are we talking about a big difference here, richard? >> it is a big difference. when we're talking about job recovery, it has not been kind to the different sexes. women trail men by 1 mill general jobs and men on the other hand saw a big spike of over 700,000 jobs. that's the 1 million right there. that is not common when you take a look at recoveries in the last four decades. recovery are normally better to women. not in this case. some women are doing better. white women, if you look at this category, saw their unemployment rate drop. that's good. that's during the recovery. but asian, black, and hispanics, those women saw unemployment rise during this same recovery period in the last two years. what might explain this historical blip is not known. men lost three million jobs more than women in the recession. you can see the difference here. this is three million jobs of a difference. but even with these gains, men still lag women by two million jobs from prerecession levels if you were to do the numbers. certain job sectors have more women than men and vice v

we expect the president to continue to push to get a big deal. what's a big deal? about $4 trillion in deaf sigz reductions over the next decade. at the end of last week, it looked like he and speaker boehner were moving towards the same page in terms of trying to get a big deal. that fell apart over the weekend. so we expect the president to resume calls for a big deal to say now is the time to seize the moment. there will be political pain on both sides. what he means by that is the democrats will have to come to the table over entitlements, making small changes to things like social security and medicare and the republicans will need to come to the table in terms of rolling back tax break for wealthy corporations and americans. as you said, richard, he's going to hammer this point that they will continue to work until they get a deal done. >> kristin, we were talking about a crucial 72 hours and the build up to that meeting. what happened? >> as of last thursday, it seemed like both the president and speaker boehner were trying to sell this big deal, this $4 tri

chunk. >> it's a big churng. so customers who currently pay $10 a month for one dvd, and unlimited streaming, i don't know if you do that are now going to have to pay $16. and if you choose one or the other, it's going to be $8. so understandably, people are not happy about that. but, you know, on the facebook page they're saying they're going to rely more on online options. where are they going to go is the question? there's a little bit of corporate competition going on with blockbuster quickly sending out a press release and saying, well, we have a service, by the way, or you can go to our stores, which actually nobody goes to. and they have about 1.2 million subscribers, versus 23 million on netflix. blockbuster reminds me a little bit about how polaroid missed the whole digital revolution. >> it's going to be interesting to follow, though, because we've seen that a lot of people have been cutting their cable bills, and this may be another way that they feel like they have to save money. >> right. >> happy me
